Dave earned his first Bachelor's Degree at UCLA with a major in Psychology and minors in Mathematics and Spanish. After serving 3 years in the Peace Corps in Venezuela, he returned for his Master's Degree in Business/Educational Administration at Central Michigan University. Later he returned to National University for a B.S. in Computer Science.
He has taught Junior High, High School, Junior College, and was Adjunct Professor at UCSD for a number of years. He was also an instructor/counselor for Outward Bound, and a mountaineering wilderness instructor for the Sierra Club for many years.
He has started many businesses including a construction remodeling company specializing in renovation/preservation of pre-depression built homes and mansions, started a dock-side yacht repair business to learn more about sailing and eventually crewed on America's Cup pace boats, and later started a software engineering consulting firm that worked with many Fortune 500 companies.
He and his 2 boys sailed extensively along the Mexico, Central and South America coastlines and in the Caribbean — the adventure taking over 2 years and 5000 nautical miles.
Since moving to Camp Verde from San Diego in 2005, he became active with the Verde Valley Theater — both on stage and behind the scenes building sets, and as a member of the Board; was appointed to the Camp Verde Planning & Zoning Commission; was invited to be a Board Member of CCCVL; was elected President of the Property Owners’ Association where he lives; and recently was elected as the current Chairman of the Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce.
He still tries to still find time to work on his own hot rods and quarter mile racers in his newest (ad)venture, DAD's Rod Shop - "Nostalgia with an Attitude".
Between he and his wife, Cindy, they have 5 kids and 14 grandkids all over the world in Idaho, California, and Japan! |
